New Diagnostics:
We added a color, doppler Ultrasound
last fall. We are using it almost daily to perform pregnancy
diagnosis and for abdominal organ scans. We can do full abdominal
or single organ scans, and can take needle aspirates using the
ultrasound. The main advantage for a needle aspirate, is that
it can many times give us a diagnosis of a disease condition
in the liver or other organ without having to put your pet under
general anesthesia for a surgical biopsy.
It is a safe an effective tool to diagnose pregnancy in your
pet, as early as day 20.
We also added a surgical laser in April. We have been using this on all routine procedures
since then, and have been very pleased. The main advantages
of surgical laser is a very precise incision, less pain, less
swelling and less bleeding at the surgical site. It has wonderful
specialized uses, such as for declawing procedures, stenotic
nares repair and elongated soft palate surgeries. The laser
greatly reduces complications from pain and hemorrhage for these
procedures. We can also use it to make incisions and cuts on
all our routine protocols. Please ask us if you have any questions.

Dr.
Emily Roberson is the owner and founder of the practice, and
graduated from NCSU College of Veterinary Medicine in 1994.
She has been practicing in Forsyth and Davie Counties ever
since. Her grandparents George and Virginia Rowland lived
in Davie County and ran the Western Auto in downtown Mocksville.
Her father is Robert Rowland, who now lives in Wilkesboro.
She attended Wake Forest before going to NCSU. She was the
consulting veterinarian for the Forsyth Animal Shelter for
three years, served on the board to re-write the animal cruelty
statutes for Forsyth county, and has served two terms on the
board of directors for the Davie Humane Society. She is a
member of the Society for Theriogenology and member of International
Canine Genetics, as well as the American Veterinary Medical
Association. Her husband, Craig is an important part of the
business, who you have probably seen around the business,
as well as her two boys. Her special interests are surgery
and canine reproduction. Her pets include Mowgli, the sheltie
you see pictures of everywhere, a mixed breed dog, two cats and
two hermit crabs.
Dr.
Deanna Lindsey is a classmate of Dr. Roberson's at NCSU-CVM.
We are very fortunate to have her drive all the way from Summerfield
each day to work for us. She did her undergraduate work at
NCSU as well as getting her doctorate there. She practiced
near Raleigh until coming here. Her special knowledge in internal
medicine has been a great asset to the practice. She has two
daughters with her husband Kevin, and a Labrador, poodle,
and cat that also wait eagerly for her to get home at night.
Dr.
Karen Wilson is our latest veterinarian to come on staff.
She is a 1998 graduate of Texas A&M Veterinary School.
She has been living in Davie county since 2006, and has graciously
agreed to help work several days a week and Saturdays. She

which is a great help to our patients. She lives in Davie
with her husband and three children, and a Lhasa mix.

NEW *** CUSTOMER LOYALTY PROGRAM *** NEW
In 2008, the staff at Animal Hospital of East Davie wants to focus on rewarding our loyal clients. We have many clients with multiple pets, and a growing number of breeder clients. We understand that owning pets, and giving them good veterinary care, can be expensive. As we have grown our business, and added new doctors, we do realize that our discount program has been varied and inconsistent at times.
Therefore, we are starting a program, modeled after the same type of savings programs used by many retailers and credit card companies. Any client who spends $850.00 or more on services, within a 6 month interval, will receive a rebate voucher for 3%. Our office manager will generate rebates at the end of May and December, to be mailed by the 15th of the next month. Please note that any inventory products are not included in this program. Also, this is per client, not per pet.
Dental rebates- Any client coming in for an annual wellness exam has an opportunity for getting wellness labwork, which includes a free heartworm test. We recommend a junior wellness panel for pets up to 7 yrs of age. The cost is $55 for a full cbc and profile with 20 chemistries, and a free heartworm test, where in house heartworm testing alone is $34. Also, anyone electing to do the labwork will receive $10 off any teeth cleaning procedure, to be used anytime for the following 6 months, and your labwork is already done! Pets over 8 years old can have a senior wellness panel which includes a thyroid level and urinalysis, as well as the heartworm test, cbc and profile for only $79, and then also receive the $10 voucher for a teeth cleaning. This is a very economical way to do annual labwork if needed for thyroid, seizure or heart medication.

SAVINGS of $36 to $44 just to elect for Wellness labwork at the time of your annual visit if your pet needs a teeth cleaning (70% of pets over three years have some form of dental disease!) And you get MORE labwork testing done!
Spay/Neuter Rebates: We have a recommended series of vaccines for puppies and kittens, based on guidelines for immunizations from NCSU College of Veterinary Medicine. We also require a full examination at the time of your first visit, and another examination at the time that your pet receives his/her rabies immunization. At this visit, the doctor will listen to the heart, check for hernias and retained baby teeth, and make recommendations for procedures to be done during their spay or neuter. Any client coming in for the full series of vaccines and exams, will receive $10 off their pets spay/neuter to be used before they are 6 months of age. This does not include elective vaccines such as the new dental vaccine, or bordetella vaccinations. This is our thank you for taking such good care of your new pet. The puppy/kitten series and the spay or neuter procedure make a huge impact on the future health of your pet.
Breeder discounts: We have built in discounts for our breeder clients, focused on the costs incurred when having a new litter of puppies. There are discounted tail docking fees, declaw amputation fees, examinations of puppies, health certificates and vaccinations. Please remember, these discounts are for breeder clients that have a relationship with us, and we need to be involved in the breeding process in some form, even if it was only for an ultrasound pregnancy check, in order to receive these discounts. As my business grows, we are seeing more breeding clients. In order to keep my prices low, but still give each pet the same individual care and attention, I do ask that you keep me informed in the breeding process, and try not to call me as the "last resort." It is much better and easier to manage a pregnancy from the beginning than trying to treat problems with dystocia and post-partum issues. Lastly, for your breeding pets, we do offer discounted examinations when bringing in multiple pets, and you will also receive your semi-annual rebate (see above.)
Multiple pet owners: If you bring in two or more pets at the same time for annual wellness exams, you will receive $10 off each pet's exam (savings of $20 total for two pets, etc.) Sometimes we can run one fecal on multiple pets in they all use the same area to "go potty." Don't forget to ask about rebates for our heartworm prevention and many flea control products.
Senior Citizen discounts: Any person over 60 years of age can receive discounted routine medical care on Tuesdays. The senior citizen must be the primary owner of the pet. This discount is 10% off any ROUTINE examination, vaccination, heartworm test, feline leukemia or aids test, wellness labwork, fecal testing, dental procedure or spay/ neuter procedure. Medications that are discounted are heartworm prevention, flea or tick prevention, deworming medications, shampoo, ear cleaner or long term medications, which are ones that are dispensed for the life of the pet: thyroid medications, anti-seizure medications, heart medications, arthritis medications, and cortisone if needed for ongoing disease process.
